Bend Elks News Release
The Bend Elks bats were missing from the ballpark on Thursday night, as the Elks dropped the rubber match of the 3 game series, falling to the Corvallis Knights 4-0.
For the Elks, Kevin Hamann was the hard luck loser on the night, giving up 3 runs, 2 earned, on 7 hits while striking out three, his first loss for the Elks in 2013.
At the plate for Bend, no player in the lineup had a multi-hit game as Adam Grantham and Chase Fields had the only hits for the Elks through the first 6 innings of the game as they could not manage to get anything going against Corvallis (12-9) starter Andrew Naderer, who gave up no runs on 2 hits, striking out three in his 4 innings of work on the mound.
In addition to Grantham and Fields, Grant Newton, Anthony Villa, and Jordan Aboites had the other hits for the Elks (13-9) in the game, but it would not be enough as Bend dropped 2 of 3 games.
The Elks will take Friday off and return to action Saturday to begin a 3 game series against the Kelowna Falcons, first pitch set for 6:35 p.m.
