
Elks lose heart-breaker to Sweets 8-7

Bend, OR - The Elks took a 7-3 lead into the bottom of the 8th, but 3 runs in the 8th and 2 in the 9th gave the Sweets an 8-7 victory over Bend.
Bend (1-2) started off the game with a bang, as Tyler Servais drove in an RBI single and Derek Dixon followed with a 2 run home run to give the Elks a 3-0 lead.
Walla Walla responded with a run in each of the first two innings, coming in thanks to an error in each of the first two innings by the Elks.
Bend responded with 3 runs in the third as Seth Spivey, Servais, and Dixon each came around to score again to tilt the contest in the Elks favor 6-2.
Walla Walla scored one in the fourth and Bend scored one in the sixth, making it a 7-3 ballgame as the game headed into the 8th inning when the wheels fell off the wagon for the Elks.
4 hits, a walk, and a wild pitch in the inning lead to 3 runs by the Sweets, cutting the lead to 7-6 as Walla Walla left the tying run on third in the 8th.
After the Elks left the bases loaded in the top of the 9th inning, the Sweets came to the plate and loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the 9th. After getting a groundball to third, the first out was recorded at 2nd before an errant throw allowed two runs to score and end the game.
The Elks will be in Kelowna, British Columbia Saturday to begin a 3 game series with the Falcons.
