The Bend Elks (4-2) and the Klamath Falls Gems (0-6) both threatened with rallies, but it was the Bend Elks that eventually took advantage of them in a 3-1 win at Vince Genna Stadium.
The Bend Elks staved off the Klamath Falls Gems as the Klamath Falls Gems were unable to match the Bend Elks down the stretch.
The Klamath Falls Gems scored one run in the ninth on an RBI single by Bo Cornish. Unfortunately, the Klamath Falls Gems weren't able to take the lead back.
Bo Walter racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Bend Elks. He singled in the second, fourth, and sixth innings.
Travis Radke's eight strikeouts were enough to push the Bend Elks past the Klamath Falls Gems. The Bend Elks' pitcher tossed five innings of shutout ball and allowed only two hits. The Elks also got a big lift out of their bullpen as Derek Peterson and Daniel Grazzini combined to go four innings, giving up just one earned on 4 hits.
Jeremy Burright (0-1) took the loss for the Klamath Falls Gems. He lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed three runs.
The Bend Elks begin a 3 game series tomorrow with the Walla Walla Sweets, first pitch at 5:05 p.m.
