Bend Elks News Release
On American Independence day from Vince Genna stadium, the Bend Elks simply did not have a performance worth repeating. They surrendered 2 runs in the first, 2 runs in the second, and 4 runs in the 4th on their way to falling by a score of 8-1.
Will Sparks was the bright spot in the Elks lineup as he went 3-4 in the game and scored the Elks only run in the ball game in the 6th inning.
Darin Gillies did not have his best start on Wednesday as he lasted only 2 1/3 innings, giving up 4 runs, 2 earned, on 5 hits in receiving the loss. Travis Radke didn't have much success in his inning of relief of Gillies, allowing 3 runs himself. The Elks bullpen finally settled down as the rest of the Elks bullpen pitched 5 and 2/3 innings, only surrendering one run the rest of the way.
The Elks take Thursday off before returning to action Friday against the Wenatchee Apple Sox in what will be a 4 game series, first pitch set for 6:35 p.m.
