Bend Elks News Release
The Bend Elks committed 8 errors, and could not find a way to respond to anything done by the Klamath Falls Gems as was defeated by Klamath Falls 16-8.
The Elks jumped out to an early 2-0 lead as Zach Close lead off the inning with a double and came around to score on a ball ripped into right field by Turner Gill, and Derek Dixon came around on a Sac Fly from Tyler Servais as the Elks jumped out early.
For the rest of the game, it was all Klamath Falls as the Gems scored 5 in the 2nd, 1 in the 5th, 2 in the 6th, and 4 runs in the 7th and the 8th inning, and Bend could never respond with enough to climb back in the game.
The Elks (20-14) have now lost 5 of their last 8 ballgames and now trail the Corvallis Knights by a half game in the West Coast League Southern Division.
Bend will be back in action on Wednesday night for a non-league contest against Puget Sound, first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. on Irish Heritage night, 8 months away from St. Patty's day.
