Elgin Welcomes Pro Basketball Team

December 22, 2005 - International Basketball League (IBL)
Elgin Racers News Release

Elgin, IL "" The Elgin community will host a professional basketball team to play in the International Basketball League for the 2006 season, team Co-Owners Tony Patricelli and Bob Fischer announced today. The team will play all ten home games at local Judson College beginning Friday March 31 at 7:15pm against the Lake County Lakers. An exhibition game intended for local Media and select sponsors will precede the regular season on Tuesday March 28 at 7:15pm at the same venue.

Judson College, a four-year private Christian university, has been a community entity since 1963. The gymnasium seats 2,000 spectators and retains all of the necessary additions to host a professional team. During the collegiate season, Judson maintains a thriving athletics department with strong Men's and Women's basketball programs.

"We are thrilled to call Judson College home court for the 2006 season, because Judson exemplifies the integrity that we want to maintain within our franchise. As a testament to the goodness left in professional sports, we intend to build our franchise around the community so as to make Judson proud" said Co-Owner Tony Patricelli.

This community focus is the hallmark of the International Basketball League, as the league has promised a family-friendly game since its inception last year. 2006 marks the second year for the burgeoning league based out of Portland, Oregon.
