Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings News Release
The agent for former BattleWings' defenvie lineman Elex Reed has confirmed that Reed has committed to play for Cleveland in the AFL during the 2008 season. Reed had offers in hand from several other AFL teams that include the New York Dragons, Philadelphia Soul, and Orlando Predators, but felt like his best shot at making an immediate difference on the field was in Cleveland.
BattleWings' head coach Jon Norris said, "Elex is not just a really good arena football player, but he is a really fine young man. He will make an immediate impact not just on the field for Cleveland, but in the city of Cleveland."
Cleveland AFL as it is being called until a mascot is determined is the old Las Vegas Gladiator team that was approved to move by the AFL to Cleveland from Las Vegas for the 2008 season. Former NFL great Bernie Kosar, who starred for many years for the Cleveland Browns, is the AFL team's part owner and general manager. The AFL team will share Quicken Loans Arena with the Cleveland Cavaliers of the NBA.
Terms of Reed's contract have not been released.
