El Paso Generals Announce First Players Signed

The El Paso Generals professional football organization of the Indoor Football League announced on Thursday, December 18, 2008 the first players signed for the 2009 season. During a press conference from the new El Paso Generals front office headquarters, the Generals revealed the first six players added to the ‘09 roster. Jon Salcido (FB/LB/DT), Cedric Johnson (WR/KR), Tyreese Brown (WR), Naton Stewart (DE), Jason Clark (LB/DE), and Rummie Grey (DB) will join the Generals roster as training camp is set to begin just a few months from now.

"I believe that each and every one of these guys brings something special to the table in regards to the indoor football game. Today, I am proud to name these six to the El Paso Generals roster. We have brought in three offensive and three defensive weapons that will help our club become very competitive, and I believe very successful. We have also brought in some local prospects and regional players that the El Paso community will enjoy watching." stated El Paso Generals Head Coach Brian Brents.

The Generals kick off the 2009 regular season at home versus the Corpus Christi Hammerheads on Saturday, April 4, 2009. The Generals will have seven home games this season, all of which will be played at the El Paso County Coliseum.

"As we reach closer to the start of the regular season, we continue to take major steps in developing this team. Once again, today is another big step we have taken and I think the El Paso community will be very excited for what is in store for this upcoming season." stated Head Coach Brian Brents.
