
Eighth Inning Sends New York to Win over Boomers

POMONA, N.Y. - Braxton Davidson homered for the second consecutive night but seven runs in the eighth cost the 2021 Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers in a 9-2 defeat at the hands of the New York Boulders.
Clint Hardy handed the Boomers a 1-0 lead in the top of the third with a line drive off the wall in left to score Chase Dawson from first. Tucker Nathans homered in the bottom of the inning to tie the contest. New York slid ahead 2-1 in the sixth with consecutive two-out doubles. Davidson was able to tie the game in the eighth with two outs, homering just to the right of dead-center. New York took advantage of six walks to plate seven runs in the bottom of the inning and win.
Jumpei Akanuma threw five innings in a no-decision in his first outing since 2019, striking out five. Aaron Glickstein worked 1.2 innings while Juan Pichardo and Thomas Hart each tossed .2 innings with Pichardo suffering the loss. The offense was limited to just six hits. William Salas notched a pair of hits at the bottom of the order.
The roadtrip will come to an end tomorrow morning when the teams play at 9:30am Central. RHP Blake Stelzer (0-1, 6.00) will make his second start of the season opposite RHP Robby Rowland (0-0, 14.40).
Schaumburg returns home on May 20 to open the home schedule against Trois-Rivieres.
