July 2, 2023 - Florida State League (FSL)
Bradenton Marauders News Release

Bradenton, Fla. - The Marauders (4-4, 39-34) and the Clearwater Threshers (6-2, 50-23) met for the fifth game of a six-game series at LECOM park on a beautiful Sunday afternoon on the Suncoast. Bradenton enjoyed another solid start, but nine runs in the final two innings would launch the Threshers to victory by a 9-6 final score.

Bradenton got the scoring started in the bottom of the first when Josiah Sightler brought Enmanuel Terrero into score on a sacrifice fly, giving the Young Bucs an early 1-0 lead.

MLB rehabber Wil Crowe started the game for Bradenton and tossed a perfect inning before Wilber Dotel piggybacked him with six shutout frames. Still, neither man was rewarded with a decision for their fantastic work at day's end.

The Marauders added three more runs in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly ball from Enmanuel Terrero before Josiah Sightler crushed a two-run homer to double the Marauders' advantage and set the score at 4-0.

Clearwater scored eight runs in the top of the eighth innings after managing only two knocks in the first seven frames. The highlight of the inning was Cade Fergus' grand slam, as they recorded seven hits in the inning to claim an 8-4 lead.

Bradenton answered with a pair of runs in the home half of the eighth, thanks to Josiah Sightler's second two-run bomb of the game. The South Carolina product finished the day 2-3 with 5 RBI in just his third game at the Single-A level.

Clearwater grabbed another run in the visiting ninth and slammed the door in the home ninth to secure the 9-6 comeback victory.

The Marauders and Threshers will bring the series to a close on Monday night at 6:30 for our Independence Day celebration at LECOM Park.
