Asheville Tourists News Release
ASHEVILLE - The Asheville Tourists sent a message on Sunday afternoon with a convincing 13-6 victory over the Lakewood BlueClaws. Asheville plated eight of their 13 runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back as they avenged Saturday's loss. The Tourists worked 11 walks to go along with their 11 hits.
The BlueClaws began the game with two runs in the top of the first that included another Malvin Matos Home Run. The Tourists' response was epic. Asheville scored eight runs and sent 13 batters to the plate in the bottom of the first. Grant Lavigne hit an RBI single and Willie MacIver was hit by a pitch that brought home the tying run.
Daniel Montano ripped a two-run double to give Asheville the lead and Will Golsan added a sacrifice fly. Kyle Datres joined the fray with a two-run single to cap the rally. Montano added an RBI single in the second and Coco Montes blasted a two-run Home Run in the third.
Frederis Parra battled through five innings to earn his second win of the season. Raymells Rosa notched his first save of the year with four innings in relief of Parra. Rosa retired all 12 BlueClaw hitters he faced.
Lavigne finished 4-for-4 with a walk, three runs scored, an RBI, and a stolen base. It was Grant's first four-hit game of the season. Montano was 2-for-3 with a game high four RBI. Daniel also worked two walks.
The win is Asheville's first against Lakewood this season in six attempts; however, it runs their current homestand record to 4-1 with two games remaining this series. Monday's contest will begin at 7:05pm.
