Edmonton Capitals Unveil 2010 Schedule

Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Capitals released the dates for the 2010 Golden Baseball League season at a news conference Thursday at TELUS Field. The GBL is expanding to 10 teams with the addition of Na Ikaika Koa Maui and return of the Tijuana franchise under new ownership. The Long Beach Armada will not be returning setting up two equal divisions with the Edmonton Capitals in the North against the Calgary Vipers, Victoria Seals, the Chico Outlaws and the St. George Roadrunners.

The Caps home opener is set for June 1st with the first ever visit from Maui. The Battle of Alberta will heat up 17 times this season including a Canada Day clash at TELUS Field on July 1st. Edmonton entertains the franchise from Tijuana for a grand total of 8 games, all in the month of July. The Orange County Flyers also make their first visit to our city when they come for a 5 game series between June 8 - 12th. The Capitals first road trip to Hawaii will be August 2nd when they play Maui 7 games in 7 nights including a doubleheader to close out the season series.

The season schedule has also expanded to 90 games including 45 games at TELUS Field where the Capitals orchestrated a successful resurgence of professional baseball in Edmonton's river valley during their inaugural campaign in 2009. All the favorite promotions will be back including Fireworks Fridays, Signature Sundays, Wiener Wednesdays and our Saturday Night Movies featuring a giant inflatable movie screen where fans get to watch classic baseball films after the game out in shallow centre field. More theme nights will also be scattered throughout the home schedule including Home Run Hooky, Bark In The Park and many more with details to be released at a later date.

Edmonton Capitals season seats are on sale now. Fans who renew their seats or purchase the early bird offers will receive 2009 pricing with season seats starting at less than $10 per seat.
