Edmonton Capitals Dominate GBL All-Star Selections

Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Capitals are proud to announce that seven players from their roster have been named to play in the Golden Baseball League All-Star game. No other team in the Golden Baseball League can match that many all-star selections for the game coming up July 14th in St. George, Utah.
Five Capital pitchers were named to the All-Star team including staff ace Lou Pote. The 37 year old is having a great season leading the team in victories (4) and leading the GBL with a minuscule 1.36 ERA. Pote is joined by fellow starter Kris Honel who has three wins this season including two victories over former Major Leaguer Jose Lima. Three members of the Caps bullpen will be headed to St. George including Jason Pearson who leads the team in saves with seven. Todd Privett and Aaron Easton round out the impressive All-Star roster.
The Capitals two most consistent offensive weapons will also head to St. George. Chad Ehrnsberger is the North Division's best third baseman and Darryl Brinkley will go as the designated hitter. Brinkley has lived up to his billing as one the best hitters in the league since being acquired in the Tijuana dispersal draft. He's hitting .299 with 3 homeruns and a team high 41 runs batted in. Ehrnsberger is third on the team with a .328 average.

Ehrnsberger and Brinkley will have their chance against top hitters in the league in the Annual Home Run Derby before the game at 6 p.m. MST. The official 2009 All-Star Game will kick-off at 7 p.m. MST
