Edmonton Aviators News Release
Edmonton April 23, 2004- The Edmonton Aviators Soccer Club has signed a partnership agreement with the highly respected Edmonton Sport Institute (ESI).
The agreement will ensure that all Aviators players receive top notch seamless care in the event of injury. More importantly, the long term goal of the partnership agreement is to minimize the risk of future injury by implementing a high performance fitness training program in the off-season. The relationship includes regular testing and screening of all Aviators players by ESI professionals. This testing and screening will ensure that each player is aware and engaged in a program to improve their personal fitness level. In addition, ESI will provide on-field athletic trainers for all Edmonton Aviator Soccer Club practices and game day activities.
"We are pleased to have partnered with such a highly regarded organization. The Edmonton Sport Institute's success in this city has been well documented. We believe that their expertise will directly benefit the Edmonton Aviators soccer teams as we begin our inaugural season" said Wylie Stafford, President of the Edmonton Aviators Soccer Club.
Former Edmonton Oilers player Dr. Randy Gregg heads the Edmonton Sport Institute. The ESI has assisted many high profile Edmonton and area athletes in the past with both injury prevention and treatment.
The Edmonton Aviators are the newest addition to Edmonton's professional sports scene. Both the Aviators Men's and Women's soccer teams will play in the United Soccer Leagues. Both teams will play their inaugural game at Commonwealth Stadium on May 30th, 2004.
