
Edinburg Roadrunners Sign Three

EDINBURG, Texas---- United League Baseball's Edinburg Roadrunners announce today the signing of pitcher Eric Montoya, outfielder Nick Aranda and infielder Carlos Hereaud. Montoya and Aranda both spent the 2008 season with the Edinburg Coyotes, while Montoya was a member of the original Roadrunners squad.
Montoya, out of Corpus Christi, held a 3.92 ERA during the 2008 season putting him third overall in the ULB, he was also third in wins with 10 and fifth in strikeouts with 97 and has been ranked in the top five in ERA in the ULB every year since 2003 with the exception of 2005.
Aranda, a Rio Grande Valley native out of McAllen, has played for the Edinburg organization since 2006. During the 2007 season he was ranked third in the ULB in stolen bases with 35 and during the 2008 season held a .302 batting average with 11 RBI's playing in only 28 games due to a shoulder injury that ended his season.
Hereaud hails from Pasadena and was most recently a member of the Milwakee Brewers affiliation during the 2007 season. In 46 games he posted a .256 batting average with 23 RBI's.
The Roadrunners recently played an exhibition game against The University of Tamalipas out of Reynosa were they defeated the Buffalos 12-6 in a 12 inning game. They open their season Thursday June 11th with a four game home-stand series with the Laredo Broncos.
