Bloomington Edge News Release

Bloomington, IL, 5/31/12 - The Bloomington Edge, presented by Heller Stores, will play the Wichita Wild Saturday on the road at 7:05 pm. This is the only regular season meeting with the Wild and the only time the Edge play a team from the Intense Conference this season. The Edge are 9-3 and in second place in the United Conference. The Wild are 6-5 and tied for third in the Intense Conference. The Wild won both games against Bloomington last season.

The Edge clinched a playoff spot last week when they beat the Chicago Slaughter 62-43 in Bloomington. The Edge can finish no lower than third place in the United Conference, but they can still grab the number two seed. To do that the Edge must go 2-0 in their last two games and Green Bay must go 2-1. The Edge can go 1-1 if Green Bay goes 1-2. They would play Green Bay in the opening round of the Playoffs. First place and unbeaten Sioux Falls will clinch the first seed if they win just one game with three left to play.

In last week's win against Chicago, Dusty Burk completed 22 of 30 passes and threw for 268 yards with 7 touchdowns. Ricardo Lenhart (86 receiving yards), John Cooper (71 yards), and Charles Dowdell (49 yards) all had 2 touchdown receptions. Andre Raymond rushed for 85 yards. Jonas Randolph rushed for 8 yards with a touchdown. Defensive lineman Antonio Ficklin rushed for a touchdown and caught a touchdown pass.

Wichita has had a streaky season and they are on a hot one right now. The Wild started out 0-4. But then things turned all the way around as they won six games of seven. They have won their last four games. The Wild will clinch a playoff spot if they win one more game. They have a shot to take the number two spot but Colorado would have to lose out.

The Edge will play their final regular season game next week on Friday June 8 against the Cedar Rapids Titans in Bloomington. The game was originally scheduled for Saturday but it was moved to Friday. The Edge are 1-0 against the Titans this year.
