Published on May 31, 2012 under Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release
Richmond, VA - After defeating the Tri-Cities Fever, in a trilling manner, for a second time this season the Sioux Falls retains the top spot in the IFL Coaches' Poll for a twelfth consecutive week.
There was a lot of change in this week's poll as seven teams shifted positions from last week.
The Storm (11-0) were voted into first place unanimously and can clinch the best record in the IFL if they can defeat the Wyoming Cavalry (4-8) in Week 15. The Tri-Cities Fever (10-2) maintain the second place spot this week, despite a one-point overtime loss,73-72,to Sioux Falls. The Fever will travel to Fort Collins, Colorado on Saturday to take on the fifth-ranked Colorado Ice (8-4).
The Green Bay Blizzard (8-3) maintains the third position this week after coming off a bye. Green Bay will travel and play the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks (5-7) in a game that has serious playoff implications for the Steelhawks. The Bloomington Edge jump up two spots and back into the top five after a 62-43 victory over Chicago. The Edge take over the fourth spot this week. The Edge will have to take on the scorching hot and seventh ranked Wichita Wild (6-5) in Week 15.
Rounding out the top five is the Colorado Ice (8-4). Colorado QB Jeremy Sanders became the second QB in IFL history to complete all of his passes in one game last week vs. the Everett Raptors. Colorado has a chance to clinch home-field advantage this week if they can beat the Tri-Cities Fever.
Coming in a sixth, seventh and eighth are the Allen Wranglers, Wichita Wild and the Omaha Beef, respectively. The Wranglers split the season series 2-2 against Wichita and also released WR Terrell Owen on Tuesday. The Wranglers will play the tenth-ranked Nebraska Danger this week. Wichita and Omaha switch spots, again, in this week's poll.
The Chicago Slaughter (5-7) drop down a spot after losing, 62-43, to Bloomington last week. The Slaughter will look to rebound this week against the Reading Express. Re-entering the top ten is the Nebraska Danger (4-7). The Danger will take on the Allen Wranglers in a decisive game in determining the Intense Conference playoffs.
