Edge Set for Final Regular Season Game, Will Play Cedar Rapids Titans

Bloomington, IL, 6/6/12 - The Bloomington Edge, presented by Heller Stores, are set to play their last game of the regular season. They will take on the Cedar Rapids Titans at U.S. Cellular Coliseum on Friday June 8 at 7:05 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for Saturday June 9 but it was moved to Friday due to building availability. The Edge are 9-4 and rank third in the United Conference. The Titans are seventh in the United Conference with a record of 3-9. The Edge beat the Titans 29-13 at Cedar Rapids on May 18.
The Edge are headed to the playoffs but they still have a chance to move up. Bloomington can finish no lower than the third seed. The Green Bay Blizzard are 9-3 with two games left. For the Edge to pass them, Bloomington must win Friday's game and the Blizzard must go 0-2 in their last two games. Green Bay holds the tiebreaker because they swept the two games played against the Edge this year. These two teams will meet in round one of the playoffs. The only question is where it will be played.
The Edge dropped a good game at the Wichita Wild late by a score of 38-39 last week. The Wild got the lead in the opening quarter but the Edge took the lead in the second and did not let up much over the next two quarters. With 0:41 left in the game the Wild scored after the Edge took a penalty and that gave Wichita the lead. Pete Christofilakos was set up for a 42 yard field goal to try and win it on the last play of the game. He missed the field goal and Wichita came up with the win.
Including Friday's game the Titans have two remaining. They will not make the playoffs. Their season looks disappointing, but they were able to give several teams a good fight despite not coming away with the win. The Titans are 3-9 and all three wins came at home.
The Edge are on to the playoffs! They will play the Green Bay Blizzard on June 22, 23, or 24. The location will be determined after the regular season ends. Details will be released once they are available. For more information on the Edge visit bloomingtonedge.com and the IFL at goifl.com.
