St. John's Edge News Release


The St. John's Edge (25-14) put up 38 points in the fourth quarter to turn a tight game into an otherwise convincing win with a 125-115 victory over the Niagara River Lions (16-23) Saturday afternoon.

Teams went shot-for-shot for the greater part of the game as the two clubs found themselves separated by just one point at the conclusion of the third quarter. However, a 7-and-0 run by St. John's courtesy of Grandy Glaze, Carl English and Jarryn Skeete give the Edge a 10-point lead with two minutes remaining. The team stood tall defensively from there on out to cruise to victory.

St. John's Edge:

Carl English-St. John's player of the game, led the way for the Edge with a game-high 38 points, adding six rebounds and one assist. Jarryn Skeete made 12 points, with seven assists. Defensively, Charles Hinkle chipped in with four steals.

Niagara River Lions:

Devonta Pollard led the River Lions with a double-double, putting up a team-high 29 points, adding 11 rebounds and one assist. Adam Klie added 20 points for Niagara accompanied by eight rebounds.

Inside the Numbers

St. John's went 14-for-28 (50 percent) from the 3-point line, the club also scored 35 points off the bench. The River Lions went 13-for-20 (65 percent) from the free-throw line and scored 68 points inside the paint.
