Bloomington Edge News Release

Bloomington, IL, 5/23/12 - The Bloomington Edge, presented by Heller Stores, are at home Friday at 7:05 pm when they take on the Chicago Slaughter. This is the fourth and final meeting between the two teams this season. The Edge are 2-1 against Chicago so far this year. The 8-3 Edge are tied with Green Bay for second place in the United Conference. Chicago is 5-6 and tied for fourth.

The Edge can clinch their seventh playoff berth in as many years with just one more win. The Edge/Extreme have made the playoffs every year except 2006, their inaugural season. The top four teams from each conference make the playoffs. Currently Sioux Falls (10-0), Bloomington (8-3), and Green Bay (8-3) hold the top three spots in the United Conference.

Chicago and Omaha are tied at 5-6 while Lehigh Valley is 4-7.

The Edge snapped a two game losing streak with their 29-13 victory at Cedar Rapids last Friday. The Edge did most of their scoring in the first half of the game. It was 23-3 Edge at halftime and then no one scored in the 3rd quarter before the Titans attempted a 4th quarter comeback. Dusty Burk went 19 for 27 with three touchdown passes, all to Ricardo Lenhart. Andre Raymond rushed for his 16th touchdown of the season.

With one more he will break the team single season rush TD record. Raymond set that record last year.

Chicago is in the middle of a four game winning streak. They have beaten Green Bay, Lehigh Valley, Cedar Rapids, and Reading over the last few weeks. Last week they beat Reading 67-50 in Chicago.

Chicago's success came from their passing game. Perry Patterson threw for 288 yards and had 7 touchdown passes. Ernest Jackson caught 3 of those touchdown passes and had 103 receiving yards.

The Edge will play their final road game of the regular season on Saturday June 2. The team will travel to Wichita to play the Wild. This is the only time the Edge play a team from the Intense Conference. The Wild are 5-5 on the season. The game starts at 7:05 pm.
