Edge Beat Lehigh Valley Steelhawks 57-39

Lehigh Valley, PA, 3/11/12 - The Bloomington Edge, presented by Heller Stores, won their third straight game Sunday afternoon as they beat the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks 57-39. The Edge are now 3-1 on the season. Dusty Burk threw for 289 yards and had 6 passing touchdowns.

Andre Raymond rushed 13 yards and a touchdown. Ricardo Lenhart led the receivers with 8 receptions for 89 yards and 2 touchdowns. Charles Dowdell had 81 receiving yards with a touchdown and John Cooper had 63 receiving yards with 2 touchdowns.

The opening quarter was fairly low scoring as both teams only scored once. Andre Raymond game Bloomington the lead with a rushing touchdown and then the Steelhawks replied with a 46 yard field goal. It was 7-3 Edge after the 1st quarter.

Lehigh Valley started the 2nd quarter with a rushing touchdown but then the Edge took off. Bloomington would score 26 points in the quarter. John Cooper had two touchdown receptions and Pete Christofilakos kicked a 41 yard field goal. The defense came up big as well.

Steelhawks wide receiver Irani Dearaugo was tackled in his own endzone on a rush attempt for a safety. To cap off the exciting quarter Antonio "Hollywood" Ficklin came up with a fumble recovery that set up a Charles Dowdell touchdown reception. The Edge ended the half up 33-10.

Bloomington tried to run away with it in the 3rd as Dusty Burk threw a 34 yard touchdown pass to Ricardo Lenhart on the very first play of the half to make it 40-10. But Lehigh Valley kicked into gear with two straight touchdowns. Quarterback Bryan Randall ran for a touchdown and then on the kickoff Bloomington's Andre Raymond lost the ball on a fumble.

Sam Maxwell scored on the recovery. At the end of the quarter the Edge still led but it was 40-24.

Lehigh Valley kept up their comeback to start the 4th as they came out with a Jeff Willis touchdown reception to cut the Edge lead to only nine points. After the three straight Lehigh Valley touchdowns the Edge finally got another as Burk threw to Deion Willis. With the Willis catch, all of the Edge receivers had received a touchdown pass in the game.

Shortly after Jeff Sobol sacked the quarterback and caused a fumble that was recovered by Ameer Ismail. On the very next play Ricardo Lenhart caught his second touchdown pass of the day. Lehigh Valley scored another rushing touchdown and converted a two-point attempt but it was not enough to finish a comeback.

Pete Christofilakos kicked a 42 yard field goal to wrap up the victory.

The Edge get this week off and then they will host the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks on March 24 at 7:35 pm. After that game, the Edge will not play the Steelhawks again in the regular season. For more information on the Edge visit bloomingtonedge.com and the IFL at goifl.com.
