Bloomington Edge News Release

Bloomington, IL, 4/19/12 - The Bloomington Edge, presented by Heller Stores, will take on the Reading Express in Bloomington on Saturday night 7:05 pm. This is the third and final meeting between the two teams during the regular season. The Edge are 2-0 against Reading. They won the first game at home on Feb. 26 by a score of 54-40. Last Saturday the Edge won 41-31 at Reading. The Edge are 6-1 on the season and rank second in the United Conference. The Express are 0-6 and last in the United Conference.

The Edge are making a habit of playing interesting games and last week was no exception. The first half was very low scoring. Reading led after the opening quarter 6-3 and 20-13 at halftime. The 3rd quarter was 6-5 in favor of Bloomington. The game was decided in the 4th quarter as the Edge outscored Reading 22-6. Andre Raymond rushed for two consecutive touchdowns and Ameer Ishmail recovered a fumble and ran it back for another touchdown. The Edge would take the game home from there.

That game was the third straight game that got interesting for the Edge. When Lehigh Valley came to Bloomington on March 24, the Edge scored a touchdown on the last play of the game to win 36-34. Then the Edge went to Chicago and held the Slaughter on defense to end the game and win 70-65. This week the game was not decided on the final play but the team had to make a comeback in the 4th quarter. The Edge players definitely have the ability to be clutch when it counts.

On Saturday April 28 the Edge travel to the Green Bay Blizzard. The two have not met this season and will not play again in the regular season. The game starts at 7 pm. For more information on the Edge visit bloomingtonedge.com and the IFL at goifl.com.

All games can be heard on WJBC Online.
