IFL Indoor Football League

Sioux Falls Stays Atop Coaches Poll for Sixth Consecutive Week

April 19, 2012 - Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release

Richmond, VA - The Allen Wranglers could not knock off the Sioux Falls Storm from the undefeated column nor the top spot on the Week 8 IFL Coaches Poll. The Storm has been atop the poll for six consecutive weeks.

Sioux Falls was able to hold off the Allen Wranglers in the Week 8's marquee matchup. The Chris Dixon led Storm out scored Terrell Owens and the Allen Wranglers 52-45 in a game that came down to the last possession. The Storm will take on the Nebraska Danger in week 9.

The Tri-Cities Fever hold steady at the number two position after they defeated the Everett Raptors 54-33 in week 8. The Allen Wranglers maintain their hold on the number three position despite the loss to the Sioux Falls Storm. Both the Fever and the Wranglers have a bye in week 9.

Switching positions again this season are the Green Bay Blizzard and the Bloomington Edge. The Blizzard and the Edge are ranked fourth and fifth respectively. Blizzard RB LaRon Council ran for 104 yards and three touchdowns as the Blizzard smothered the Chicago Slaughter 63-36 at the Resch Center in Green Bay. This week the Blizzard will travel to Chicago to take on the Slaughter again. Despite beating the Express in week 8 the Edge drop one spot due to trailing the winless Express for a majority of the game. The Edge will travel to face the Reading Express in Reading, PA in week 9.

Coming in at sixth and seventh respectively are the Colorado Ice and the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks. These teams, despite differing outcomes, saw no change in their positions this week.

The biggest riser this week comes from the New Mexico Stars. The Stars move back into the top ten as they knock off the Colorado Ice on last second field goal by IFL Special Teams Player of the Week Zeke Arevalo, 44-41. This comes a week after they took to the undefeated Tri-Cities Fever to the brink of defeat. The Fever won that game on a last second field goal 65-62. This week the Stars will travel to Casper, WY to take on the Wyoming Cavalry.

The Everett Raptors move up one spot to ninth in this week's poll. The Nebraska Danger round out the top ten as the Danger move back into the rankings.

Cedar Rapids and Omaha drop out of the top ten.
