
Edenton's Bryan Hill Named Coastal Plain League 2013 Coach of the Year

HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. - The Coastal Plain League announced today that Edenton Steamers head coach Bryan Hill (photo courtesy of Pat Grecinger) has been named the CPL Coach of the Year following the completion of the 2013 season.
Hill led the Steamers to a league best 40-11 regular season record and earned Edenton the overall number one ranking in the 2013 Petitt Cup Playoffs. The Steamers went on to defeat Fayetteville in the first round before falling to eventual champion Peninsula in the East Division Championship. Overall, Edenton finished with a 43-14 record, with the 43 wins tying the record for third most in CPL history.
The Steamers also won both the first half and second half titles in the East Division. Hill went on to earn the honor of being named head coach of the 2013 East Division CPL All-Stars and had a league-best eight Steamers players (Jacob Reese, Nick Thompson, Josh Hampton, Adam Kirsch, Trent Miller, Nick Miller, Jake McCoy and Connor Cuff) join him as All-Stars as well. His East CPL All-Stars also took a 3-2 victory over the West Division squad in 10 innings. Further, four Steamers (Hitters: Josh Hampton (Week 1) and Trent Miller (Week 9), and Pitchers: Nick Miller (Week 6) and John Williams (Week 7)) earned Rawlings CPL Player of the Week honors during the regular season.
As a team, the Steamers finished second in the league for highest regular season batting average (.261) and lowest team ERA (2.52). They led the league in most runs scored (286), most RBIs (258), most home runs (43), most total bases (659) and highest slugging percentage (.399); while recording the fewest hits allowed (341) and tied for fewest walks allowed (142) by a pitching staff on the season. Furthermore, the 2013 Steamers ranked fourth in the CPL history books in most home runs (43), sixth for highest slugging percentage (.399), fourth in regular season wins (40), tenth for lowest team ERA (2.52) and tied for fifth for fewest team walks allowed (142).
