Morehead City Marlins News Release

MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. - The Edenton Steamers got off the bus in Morehead City ready to hit as they dominated the Marlins by a score of 11-1 on a beautiful Sunday night at Big Rock Stadium in Morehead City, N.C.

Morehead City starter Robert Whaley dominated the first inning working two popouts and a strikeout. However, the Steamers bats awoke, with a vengeance, in the top half of the second inning. Edenton scored six runs on four hits, including a two-RBI triple off the bat of Dominic Fratantuono. The Marlins got one back in the bottom half of the third on an RBI double by Ryan Cranmer.

However, the one run in the third would be the only run the Marlins could plate in the ballgame. The Steamers picked up five more runs with two runs in both the fourth and fifth and a long solo blast by Trent Miller in the top of the ninth.

With the loss the Marlins fall to 8-9 on the season, while the Steamers improve to a Coastal Plain League best 13-4 with their ninth straight win. Robert Whaley suffered the loss for the Marlins, while Nick Miller picked up the win for the Steamers.

The Marlins have a day off Monday, before heading out to Edenton on Tuesday night. The team returns to Morehead City for a three-game home-stand, beginning with a 7:05 PM first pitch on Tuesday night against the Petersburg Generals.
