
Earthquakes Drawn into Group B for MLS Is Back Tournament

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes were drawn into Group B and will face Seattle Sounders FC, FC Dallas and Vancouver Whitecaps FC in Major League Soccer's MLS is Back Tournament in Orlando, Fla. A virtual draw was held today to establish three groups in each conference. The match schedule will be announced at a later date.
With Nashville SC moving to the Eastern Conference, the 12 teams in the Western Conference were divided equally into three groups of four. Los Angeles Football Club and Seattle Sounders FC, the teams to meet in the 2019 Western Conference Finals, were given the top seeds in two of the groups. Real Salt Lake was given the third and final top seed as the conference's next highest points leader from the 2019 season. All remaining teams were drawn one by one into the three groups.
Full details of the MLS is Back Tournament were announced Wednesday . Teams can arrive in Orlando as soon as June 24 with Group Stage matches beginning July 8. The three matches each team will play as part of the Group Stage will all count towards the 2020 regular season standings. Sixteen of the 26 teams will advance to the Knockout Round, with the eventual champion earning a coveted spot in the 2021 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League.
