San Jose Earthquakes News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that the first stop of Wondo's Golden Boot Tour will be in Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski's hometown of Danville from 3 - 4 p.m. PT on Sunday, Feb. 13 at Norm's Bar and Grill.
The De La Salle graduate will be on hand along with members of the Earthquakes front office to talk about the 2011 season. Wondolowski will participate in a question and answer session with fans and a raffle for an autographed jersey will be conducted. A picture and autograph session will follow the event.
Wondo's Golden Boot Tour gives fans an opportunity to meet the Bay Area native and 2010 Budweiser Golden Boot winner and fans are encouraged to bring friends and family to the event. Additional tour dates will be announced at a later date.
Wondolowski scored 18 goals in 2010. He scored a franchise record nine game-winning goals and accounted for an astonishing 52.9 percent of the team's scoring output for the season. That mark was good enough for second all-time in MLS history.
Wondolowski was honored as an MLS Best XI selection as a forward, was named the team's most valuable player and finished third in the MLS MVP race.
The San Jose Earthquakes will open the 2011 season at home on Saturday, March 19 against Real Salt Lake at Buck Shaw Stadium at 7:30 p.m. PT. San Jose looks to improve on their 2010 campaign that saw the Quakes reach the MLS Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2005.
The Earthquakes finished 2010 with a 13-10-7 record and reached the Eastern Conference Championship after knocking out the first-seeded New York Red Bulls in the opening round of the MLS Cup Playoffs.
