New York Red Bulls News Release
HARRISON, NJ (Feb. 2, 2011) ¬" Red Bull New York announced today the signing of Brazilian midfielder Marcos Paullo. Paullo (full name: Marcos Paullo Barcelos Peixoto) will join the team ¬â¢s active roster pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate.
¬ÅWe believe that Marcos is a bright prospect who can help us in the future, ¬Â said Red Bull New York General Manager and Sporting Director Erik Soler. ¬ÅHe impressed us during his trial last season and we are excited to bring him on board. ¬Â
During the 2010 season, the 20-year-old midfielder trialed with the Red Bulls first team. He made an appearance in the team ¬â¢s 2-1 victory over Manchester City FC on July 25, coming on as a substitute in the 81st minute.
Paullo began his career in the youth system of Brazilian club Goias Esporte Clube. In 2008, he helped the Goias Under-18 side capture the Campeonato Goiano Sub-18. The following season, he graduated to the Under-20 side. In 2010, Paullo moved to fellow Brazilian side Clube Atletico Paranaense, but did not feature for the first team.
