Colorado Eagles News Release

WINDSOR, Colo. - The Governors' Cup champion Colorado Eagles announced today that they've traded defenseman Erik Adams to the expansion Allen Americans for future considerations to be fulfilled following the 2009-10 season.

"Playing in Allen will offer me a great opportunity to further my career, and it's something that could be a promising situation for me for years to come," said Adams. "They've expressed interest in me coming in and establishing a leadership role with their franchise and that's very exciting.

"I'm hoping to help the Americans build a first class organization just like the Eagles," he continued. "I understand this move is part of the business and I have a great deal of respect for the Eagles organization, how it's run and the people involved with it. I really enjoyed my time in Colorado."

Adams, a University of Denver alumnus, was one of six Eagles players that had reached the CHL's veteran limit for games played; teams are allowed to have only four veteran skaters (goalies are exempt) on their roster during the season.

Following his first pro season in the ECHL, the Thunder Bay, Ontario native spent two seasons with the CHL's New Mexico Scorpions before coming to Colorado. In four seasons with the Eagles (two shortened by injury), the defenseman tallied 105 points (20-85-105), 152 PIMs and a +54 plus/minus rating in 168 games.
