Eagles Slip But Retain Top Spot in Coaches' Poll

Despite losing three of four games last week, the Colorado Eagles have held on to the top ranking in the CHL Coaches' Poll. A home loss to Laredo (which snapped the Eagles' 19 game winning streak at the Budweiser Events Center) along with divisional road losses at Oklahoma City and Wichita were key factors in seeing the Eagles lose seven first place votes. Second ranked Memphis picked up four of them for a total of six first place votes, with the Laredo Bucks selected as the top club by three other CHL coaches.
Changes in this week's poll include the Oklahoma City Blazers barely nudging by Corpus Christi into fifth position and the New Mexico Scorpions moving up into eighth spot after debuting in the poll at #10 last week. The Wichita Thunder rejoin the poll (#10) for the first time since December 6th, while the Arizona Sundogs fall out.
Throughout the season the CHL will release the results of the Coaches Poll. Each first place selection earns 10 points, second place earns 9 points, etc. Coaches cannot vote for their own team, creating a potential perfect score of 160 points should one club receive all 16 possible first place votes.
