Eagles Participating in Breast Cancer Awareness Month

WINDSOR, Colo. - Over the past two seasons, the Colorado Eagles have been involved in raising awareness and funds for breast cancer awareness (over $30,000 in all), and this season that will be no different. The team announced today just some of its planned involvement for October as Breast Cancer Awareness month.

The team will once again wear special edition pink jerseys that will be auctioned off later in the season (on Feb. 13 during the team's annual Valentine's Day game) with proceeds benefiting a local breast cancer fund (Wilbur's Fund for Women With Breast Cancer). The team will wear the pink jerseys for both of its preseason games -- Oct. 7 and Oct. 9 -- and again for every pre-game warm-up at the Budweiser Events Center throughout October. In addition, replicas of the pink jerseys will be on sale while supplies last at the team's merchandise locations with a portion of the proceeds also going to the same fund.

Also to benefit the Wilbur's Fund for Women With Breast Cancer, the Eagles will be "Teaming up for Breast Cancer" with Pedersen Toyota, Wilbur's Total Beverage and Poudre Valley Health System over the weekend of Oct. 9-10. A pair of Eagles players will be at Pedersen Toyota from 1-2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9 and at Wilbur's Total Beverage on Sunday, Oct. 10 from 10-11:30 a.m. Both local companies will be donating portions of their proceeds each day to the same fund (for more information, click here).

The puck drops on the 2010-11 season on Saturday, Oct. 9 when the Eagles take on the Odessa Jackalopes in a preseason game at the Budweiser Events Center (BEC); the regular season begins on Friday, Oct. 15.
