
Eagles Clinch Third Straight Division Title

LOVELAND, CO- The Colorado Eagles defeated the Fort Worth Brahmas 4-2 Saturday night to clinch the Northwest Division title for the third consecutive season. Colorado has won the division every season the team has been in the Central Hockey League becoming the first team in the CHL to win their division in their first three years. The game also marked the 100th consecutive sellout at the Budweiser Events Center including the nine playoff games. Four different Eagles scored as they improved their record to 40-12-6 making it the third straight season the team has made it to the 40 win mark.
Wes Mason gave the Brahmas the lead in the first period at the 1:37 mark when he slapped in a shot right off a face off. The Brahmas held the 1-0 lead into the first intermission although it was the Eagles that were leading on the shot chart 14-8.
Colorado quickly tied the game at one on Scott Polaski's 18th goal of the season, he was assisted by Nick Parillo and Chris Hartsburg. Just over one minute later, Cory Stillman gave the Brahmas a 2-1 lead, but that would be the final goal of the night for the Brahmas. Riley Nelson tied the game for the Eagles and extended his goal-scoring streak to four games, and Erik Adams earned the game-winniing goal at the 13:19 mark of the second on a blast from the top of the right circle.
The teams skated scoreless in the third until Fort Worth pulled their goaltender and Greg Pankewicz was able to cap the game with an empty net goal. Andrew Martin played excellent in net for the Brahmas stopping 42 of 45 shots. Paulo Colaiacovo stopped 21 of 23 shots for his franchise record 34th all-time win beating the previous record of 33 held by Tyler Weiman and Ryan Bach.
