HOUSTON - Houston Dynamo defender Adolfo Machado was named to Panama's final roster for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the Federación Panameña de Fútbol (FEPAFUT) announced today.

Panama will be making its first appearance in the FIFA World Cup Finals after finishing third in the CONCACAF region. Los Canaleros earned their spot on the final day of World Cup Qualifying with a 2-1 win over Costa Rica on the final day of qualifying, scoring the game-winning goal in the 88th minute to book their ticket to Russia.

Machado, 33, has made 75 career appearance for Panama since making his international debut on June 1, 2008 against Guatemala. He has one career goal at the senior international level, which came on June 19, 2009 against Haiti. The defender joined Panama for a pre-tournament training camp following Houston's 3-1 win over New York City FC last Friday night at BBVA Compass Stadium.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup will take place in Russia from June 14 - July 17. The 32 competing nations are divided into eight groups of four. Each group will compete in a round-robin format during group play, with the top two teams in each group advancing to the knockout stage. From that point, it becomes a single-elimination bracket to determine the champion.

Panama was drawn into Group G along with Belgium, England and Tunisia. Los Canaleros will make their World Cup debut on Monday, June 18 against Belgium at Fisht Stadium in Sochi. That match is scheduled for a 10 a.m. CDT kickoff.
