Dusters WR signs with Orlando

The Amarillo Dusters announced today that Wide Receiver Steve Bergeski has signed a contract with the Orlando Predators of the AFL. Bergeski becomes the 9th member of the organization to make the jump to the AFL, CFL, or NFL. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The former Central Connecticut State standout had a great year as a rookie in 2007, starting all 16 games for the Dusters. He led the team in every receiving category, catching 121 passes for 1,478 yards and 33 touchdowns, while adding another rushing touchdown on the ground. He finished 9th overall in af2 in receptions.
"Coming to play for the Dusters was the best move that I could have made," said Bergeski. "I knew that I could perform at the next level, and I just needed a chance to prove that. The Dusters gave me that shot. They want to help players move up, and the staff does everything they can to get you ready and to make the calls on your behalf to get you in front of the right people. I also really enjoyed being in Texas, and I met a lot of great people."
The Orlando Predators are one of the all-time great franchises in the AFL, and are coached by AFL Legend Jay Gruden. The Predators have won two Arena Bowl Championships, and have appeared in seven Arena Bowl Championships overall during their illustrious 17-year history.
"It's an honor to have the opportunity to play for the Predators and Coach Gruden," said Bergeski. "Right now, I'm just focused on my conditioning and making myself better so that I can make the final roster and be in impact player in Orlando."
The Amarillo Dusters will begin their 4th season in af2 when training camp begins next March. 2008 season tickets are on sale now.
