Amarillo Venom News Release
AMARILLO, TEXAS The Amarillo Dusters made their presence known in the league after last weekend's win against the Central Valley Coyotes.
Each week the league awards four players from the combined teams one of four prestigious awards. The awards are the Schutt Offensive Player of the Game, the ADT Defensive Player of the Game, the U.S. Army Ironman of the Game, and the Cutters Catch of the Game. These are awarded at each game as well as on the league level.
Dusters fullback Wallace House was awarded the Cutters Catch of the Game for the arena football 2 league. His 2-point conversion catch from kicker Jacob Felton helped put the Dusters ahead 64-53 in the fourth quarter. House made the catch after a fumbled snap forced Felton to throw the ball. It was tipped once, but House was ready for it in the endzone.
"It was a great play that gave us the momentum to finish the game with a win," said head coach Chris MacKeown. "It not only pumped the players up, the fans went wild, too."
House tied with several other players for rushing touchdowns with two against Central Valley.
House was not the only Amarillo Duster ready to make a statement. Julian Reese tied for first with QB R. Rutherford from Wilkes-Barre Scranton with seven passing touchdowns.
Jim Lukowiak was awarded the Schutt Offensive Player of the Game on the team level for his performance against Central Valley. He had eight receptions from Reese for 84 yards and four touchdowns, tying for first in the league for receiving touchdowns with J. Hughley of Tulsa.
"You can start to see where we are matching up with the rest of the league," MacKeown said. "It's great to see Amarillo in those lists of league leaders."
