(SUMMERSIDE, PEI) Durham s Team the Oshawa Power defeated the Summerside
Storm 103-102 in their final game of their inaugural NBL Canada season Friday night.
The Storm jumped on the Power early feeding off the home court energy, taking a 54-47
lead heading into the halftime break. It left the Power with the all-too familiar storyline
of fighting back from behind which they did, using a 27-19 fourth quarter advantage to
come up with the victory and in the process get their 15th win of the season.
The Power were once again led by the NBL Canada's leading scorer Brandon Robinson,
who poured in a game-high 28 points and plucked down 13 rebounds. NBL Canada All- star and York University alum Tut Ruach scored 6 points and distributed in 11 assists.
"It would have been easy to pack it in tonight but we kept fighting and stuck together,
said Ruach after the game. "Missing the playoffs is something none of us is used to. It's
been hard on all of us but we've all learned many valuable lessons this year."
The Storm were led by Mike Williams' double-double of 25 points and 16 rebounds. Al
Stewart chipped in with 15 points and 8 assists for the home side.
After a slow start, the Power finished the season on a roll, winning 7 of their last 10
games, finishing one game out of a playoff spot. The Power will look to carry the
momentum over into the 2012-2013 season.
The inaugural NBL Canada Playoffs will begin March 6 in Saint John as the Mill Rats
host the top seeded London Lightning.
