Long Island Ducks News Release
(Sugar Land, Texas) - The Long Island Ducks defeated the Sugar Land Skeeters 9-2 in the finale of a four game series on Thursday night.
The offense for the Ducks struck early, as in the top of the first inning, Lew Ford doubled to bring in Dan Lyons. Two batters later, Ford would score on an RBI single from Sean Burroughs. The Flock would come back in the second as Mike Blanke scored on a Fehlandt Lentini sacrifice fly, and Blake Tekotte would score on Ford's single.
Ricky Hague would put the Skeeters on the board in the third inning with an RBI single to score Johan Limonta.
The Ducks would extend their lead in the top of the fourth. Ford came up again and hit a long fly ball that was misplayed by Sugar Land centerfielder Kent Matthes, scoring Tekotte and put Ford on second. Tyler Colvin then singled to score Ford. The next inning was more of the same, as Tekotte hit a two-run home run to right field.
Jeremy Barfield would drive in Jeff Dominguez on a fielder's choice in the bottom of the inning, but another sacrifice fly from Lentini, bringing in Ruben Gotay, would bring the game to its final score.
