Greenville, S.C. - The smell of hot dogs and peanuts in the air, the crack of the bat and the cheer of the crowd. Can you feel it? Greenville Drive baseball and Opening Day is only three weeks away. However, fans will get an early chance to catch that baseball fever as the Drive will host an Open House event on March 24th at West End Field from 10 AM - 2 PM.

During the Open House fans will have the opportunity to purchase single-game tickets or a season ticket plan, checkout the new West End Field enhancements for the 2007 season, and children can compete in the MLP Pitch, Hit, & Run Competition. Each of these items are outlined below:

Single-Game Tickets

Would you like to be a part of one of the Opening Day events on April 9th or 10th? Or perhaps you want to be at West End Field on "Shoeless" Joe Jackson Night on April 11th? Don't forget that the Drive will once again honor Greenville's historic past with "Green Day" on August 14th. Starting at 10 AM fans will have the opportunity to purchase single-game tickets to these games, as well as any of the 70 Drive home games during the 2007 season.

"Opening Day and weekend games were hot tickets last season and they will be once again in 2007," commented Drive General Manager Mike deMaine. "Fans will not want to miss out on their first opportunity to purchase tickets to these games, as well as any of the 70 exciting Drive home games."

From 10 AM - 4 PM, single-game tickets will only be available at the West End Field Box Office. Internet sales of single-game tickets will begin at 4 PM on the Drive's website, www.GreenvilleDrive.com. Fans will be able to order tickets by phone, beginning Monday, March 26th at 10:00 AM by calling (864) 240-4528.

MLB Pitch, Hit, & Run

West End Field will also host the Local Competition of the MLB Pitch, Hit, & Run. The skills competition, which will take place from 12 PM - 2 PM, provides youngsters with an opportunity to compete, free of charge, in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball skills. Those wishing to participate should arrive at West End Field no later than 11:45 AM.

Competitors are divided into four age divisions: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12/, 13/14, and have the chance to advance through four levels of competition, including the National Finals at the 2007 MLB All-Star Game at AT&T Park in San Francisco. The individual pitching, hitting, and running champions, along with the all-around champion in each age group will be awarded and advance to the Sectional Level of competition. The Drive will be accepting the first 50 applicants, boys and girls, who provide a valid birth certificate.

"The MLB Pitch, Hit, & Run is a great competition for young baseball players to showcase their skills," added deMaine. "West End Field is proud to host the Local Competition, and we hope to see one of our local athletes advance all the way to the finals."

New Enhancements for the 2007 Season

In addition, fans will have their first opportunity to see the new enhancements at West End Field for the 2007 season. From the Coca-Cola Dugout and the Upper Deck, to the Picnic Plateau and the Bi-Lo Playground, fans are in for a real treat during the upcoming year.

"Fans will get a first look at our new areas, which offer a unique experience at Drive games, as they near completion," said deMaine. "The Coca-Cola Dugout offers a field level view which is like having a sideline pass at a football game, or backstage pass at a concert. The Bi-Lo Playground has been revamped for 2007, which children and parents alike will enjoy."

Season Ticket Packages

Finally, those attending the Open House event will have the opportunity to purchase any one of the season ticket plans that the Drive offer. Whether fans do not want to miss a single pitch at all 70 home games, or just catch the fireworks on and off the field with the Weekend Plus Plan, there is a package plan for everyone.

"The Open House promises to be a great time for all who attend," stated deMaine. "The excitement is in the air and Opening Day is right around the corner."

Ticket plan holders will be able to pick-up their tickets at a special pre-season party at West End Field on April 3rd. During this time, fans will get to watch the Drive practice, as well as collect autographs from new manager Gabe Kapler and the rest of the team during a post-practice dinner.

Opening Day at West End Field is Monday, April 9th, as the Drive are slated to host the Columbus Catfish at 7:05 PM. For more information, visit the Drive's website at www.GreenvilleDrive.com or by calling the front office at (864) 240-4500.
