Greenville Drive News Release

Greenville, SC - The Greenville Drive busted out of a three-gaming losing streak in a big way as they throttled the Greensboro Grasshoppers 11-3 on Thursday night.

Phillip Sikes got the Drive off to an early start with a three-run blast in the second inning. Matthew Lugo then scored in the third off a throwing error to make it 4-0.

The game was blown open in the fifth with a Niko Kavadas single scoring one followed by a two-run homer by Joe Davis making the score 7-1 for the Drive.

Greensboro crawled back into the game with two runs in the eighth to make it 7-3. But then in the top of the ninth, the Drive put the game out of reach. Remarkably, the Drive scored four runs despite only one base hit. Gilberto Jimenez, Nick Decker, Tyler McDonough, and Lugo all scored on either a walk, wild pitch or sacrifice fly.

Devon Roedahl picked up his third win of the year with two innings of work without giving up a run. Adrian Florencio got the loss for the Grasshoppers.

The Drive battle the Grasshoppers again Friday night as they attempt to even the six-game series 2-2. The game begins at 6:30 pm.
