CONEY ISLAND,, NY - Mets No. 4 prospect Alex Ramirez played hero Thursday night, delivering a go-ahead RBI double in the bottom of the eighth en route to a 3-2 victory for the Brooklyn Cyclones, the High-A affiliate of the New York Mets, over the Aberdeen IronBirds at Maimonides Park.
Alex Ramirez, with Matt Rudick at first base after a lead-off hit by pitch in the eighth, drilled a double to the alleyway in right center field to give Brooklyn a 3-2 lead against Aberdeen reliever Houston Roth.
Aberdeen rallied to tie the game 2-2 in the top of the seventh inning, scoring on Ryan Higgins' run-scoring triple off the right field wall against Brooklyn reliever Andrew Edwards.

After Jose Peroza doubled down the left field line against Aberdeen starter Ignacio Feliz, Shervyen Newton poked an RBI single between two defenders into right field to tie the game. Two batters later, Matt Rudick ripped a single down the right field line, scoring Newton to give Brooklyn a 2-1 lead.

The 23-year-old righty retired 10 of the game's first 11 hitters before allowing a run in the fourth. Billy Cook tripled and scored on an RBI single by TT Bowens against Bryant to make it 1-0.
