Greenville Drive News Release

Augusta, GA - Through six innings of play Sunday afternoon, the Drive and GreenJackets were deadlocked at 5-5. The game quickly got out of hand in the top of the seventh as Greenville plated 13 runs en route to a 19-6 victory.

What went down as the most prolific inning in franchise history, the Drive sent 19 batters to plate, had nine hits and were helped out by five walks, four of which came with the bases loaded. Mike Jones, Manny Arambarris, and David Marks each tallied two RBI in an inning in which Augusta was forced to use three different pitchers.

The Drive offense started out hot from the get go, taking a 5-0 lead after the first inning and a half of play. Anthony Rizzo singled home the team's first run of the game and an inning later Aaron Reza collected three of his team-high four RBI on a bases loaded double. Yamaico Navarro added an RBI-single in the second as well.

However, the Drive pitching staff was unable to hold onto the lead, something that has rarely been the case to this point in 2008. Chris Province surrendered three runs, the most he's allowed in an outing this year, in 4 1/3 innings. Augusta then added a pair of runs off Bryce Cox (1-0) in the sixth inning to tie the score.

Navarro led the Drive offense that pounded out 18 hits with four of his own. The trio of Reza, Rizzo, and Luis Exposito each had three hits, while Jones and Arambarris tallied a pair of hits each.

The Drive and GreenJackets conclude their three-game series tomorrow evening with first pitch set for 7:05 PM. Greenville will send right-hander Eammon Portice to the mound as Augusta counters with right-hander Orland Yntema.

After the three-game set in Augusta and an off day on Tuesday, the Drive return home to Fluor Field on Wednesday, April 23rd for a six-game home stand in which they host the Asheville Tourists and the Hickory Crawdads.

Wednesday's game will be the Drive's second Businessperson Special, presented by Find Great People, of the season with first pitch at 11:05 AM. Fluor Field will host a bevy of baseball in the span of 24 hours beginning Tuesday, April 22nd as the South Carolina Gamecocks and Furman Paladins square-off at 7:05 PM. After the Drive's early game on Wednesday, the Clemson Tigers and Presbyterian Blue Hose will call Fluor Field home at 7:05 PM.
