Drive Add Nnanna Egwu to Active Roster

GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN - The Grand Rapids Drive, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Detroit Pistons, announced today that the team has added returning player, Nnanna Egwu.

The Drive acquired Nnanna Egwu's returning player rights in a trade made with the Erie BayHawks last season.

Egwu, the 6-foot-11, 250-pound, center from University of Illinois (2011-2015) went undrafted in the 2015 NBA Draft and joined the Orlando Magic for the 2015 NBA Summer League and signed with them in September 2015. After appearing in five preseason games, he was later waived and then acquired by the Erie BayHawks. In 50 games (50 starts) for the BayHawks in 2015-16, Egwu averaged 9.16 points, 1.32 blocks, and 7.18 rebounds per game. Egwu joined the Cairns Taipans in Australia for the 2016-17 season where he appeared in 30 games, averaging 5.1 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. He then signed with the Super City Rangers in 2017, averaging 12.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game in all 19 games (19 starts). Before returning to the Drive this week, Egwu signed with the Taipans for the 2017-18 season appearing in 28 games (27 starts), averaging 5.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game.

While with the Drive, Egwu will wear jersey number 24.

The Drive take on the Erie BayHawks tomorrow, Thursday, March 15 for a 7:00 PM (ET) tip-off at the DeltaPlex Arena. The game is $2 Thursday's presented by Meijer which will feature $2 beer and $2 hotdogs.
