Tulsa Drillers News Release
The Tulsa Drillers are moving to the new ONEOK Field for the 2010 season, but they are not going to have to wait that long to play in a new stadium. Sort of.
For one game, Drillers Stadium is officially changing names. On Friday, April 17, when the Drillers meet the Corpus Christi Hooks on Opening Night II, Drillers Stadium is being renamed "Grillers Stadium."
The name changed is being presented by KFC in recognition of its new Kentucky Grilled Chicken. The official name change is for only the one game.
The Drillers and KFC are holding a press conference at the stadium (15th & Yale) at 3:00PM on Tuesday, April 14 to officially announce the change. KFC will provide free samples of the new grilled chicken at the press conference.
Drillers Assistant General Manager Jason George said, "We're really looking forward to this promotion. It's a great way to have fun with our fans and integrate a unique message for KFC. I think the fans will enjoy the experience at Grillers Stadium on Friday night!"
"This gives us the chance to highlight the new Grilled Chicken in a fun environment," said Billy Hodge, President of the Tulsa KFC Co-op. "Tulsa loves the Drillers and we're sure they'll love the new Kentucky Grilled Chicken as well."
The grilled product, served on the bone, will be offered at Tulsa-area KFC locations. On Monday, April 27th customers across the nation, and locally, will be invited to come to KFC to try a free piece of the new grilled chicken. KFC is calling the event "Unfried Day."
Hodge added, "Not only do we get to introduce Tulsa to Kentucky Grilled Chicken, we are extremely excited about the game at Grillers Stadium on April 17."
KFC, a subsidiary of Yum Brands (YUM), is introducing Kentucky Grilled Chicken this month to offer consumers a delicious product that also honors the tradition of KFC.
KFC says the grilled chicken is being introduced in response to consumer demand and should be a welcome addition to the already popular menu. The KFC chain now serves some 12 million customers daily at more than 14,000 outlets around the world.
