Drillers Return Home for Playoff Push
August 17, 2015 - Texas League (TL1)
Tulsa Drillers News Release
Following a week on the road in Texas, the Drillers return to ONEOK Field for the second to last homestand of the 2015 season. After playing at Frisco and Midland during this past road trip, the Drillers will now play host to the RoughRiders and RockHounds in two 3-game series. All six games are scheduled to begin at 7:05PM.
Beyond the baseball games, fans should make plans to come out to the ballpark as there will be a Bark in the Park Night on Wednesday, August 19, a Sammy Sosa jersey giveaway on Thursday, August 20, Friday Night Fireworks on August 21, followed by a Star Wars themed Night and a Superhero/Princess Night on Saturday and Sunday, August 22 & 23 respectively.
The complete list of promotions is below.
Individual tickets for all the games, and for any of the remaining games this season, are currently available for purchase online at TulsaDrillers.com, in person at the ONEOK Field Ticket Office (201 N. Elgin Avenue) or over the phone at (918) 744-5901.
WE'RE TALKING ABOUT PLAYOFFS: After having a rough first half, the Drillers will begin this week's homestand tied with the Arkansas Travelers for second place as they trail the Springfield Cardinals by just a single game for the top spot in the North Division.
WELCOME BACK: Ronald Torreyes and Brandon Dixon being back in Drillers jerseys certainly appears to be a nice boost for the team's final playoff push. Torreyes returned to the Drillers after spending 4 games playing for the OKC Dodgers where he batted .353. With Tulsa, Torreyes has hit a solid .292 to go with a stellar .345 average when leading off the inning. Dixon started the year with Tulsa before being sent down to Single-A Rancho Cucamonga back in June despite being the Drillers' RBI leader at the time. He earned his way back to the Drillers by hitting .299 with 11 homers in just 45 games with the Single-A affiliate.
AGAINST THE OPPOSITION: Against the Frisco RoughRiders and Midland RockHounds this season the Drillers have had mixed results. Facing Frisco, Tulsa has gone 5-4 while its pitching staff has been dominant with a 1.85 ERA against the Riders. Facing Midland has been a different story thus far as the Drillers have gone just 1-8 against the RockHounds.
2015 SEASON COMING TO A CLOSE: As the month of August begins to wind down, so the 2015 Drillers games are also coming to a gradual end. After this week's slate is completed, the Drillers will have just 1 more homestand this year with 7 home games to go along with 7 games on the road barring a playoff run.
