
Drillers Rally for their Fourth-Straight Win

SPRINGFIELD, MO- An early For the second straight night, the Tulsa Drillers rallied from a 5-3 deficit to defeat the Springfield Cardinals. Tulsa used two home runs in the seventh, an RBI double and an RBI single to rally for the 7-5 win Saturday night at Hammons Field.
The win is the Drillers' fourth straight as they remain three games behind first-place Wichita in the Double-A Central North division.
For the fourth consecutive night, the Drillers jumped on the board in the first inning. With runners at first and third, Devin Mann hit a three-run homer to give Tulsa an early 3-0 advantage.
Gus Varland, who has not pitched over two innings in an appearance this season, set a season-high in innings pitched and pitches thrown.
Cameron Gibbens followed Varland on the mound, and Springfield managed to score their first two runs. Malcom Nunez hit a two-run homer for the Cardinals to bring the game to 3-2.
Springfield tied the game with a sac fly from Brendan Donovan in the fifth inning.
In the sixth, Springfield took a 5-3 lead with back-to-back home runs from Nunez and Julio Rodriguez.
The Drillers dialed up back-to-back homers of their own in the seventh, as Jacob Amaya and Romer Cuadrado tied the game at 5-5.
Tulsa took the lead in the eighth. After a walk from Michael Busch, Justin Yurchak hit a double right that allowed Busch to score.
The Drillers added an insurance run in the ninth on an RBI single from Stevie Berman for a 7-5 lead.
THE HIGHLIGHTS
*Varland went 2.2 innings and threw 42 pitches in his ninth outing this season.
*With his two hits tonight, James Outman extended his hitting streak to seven games.
*Nick Robertson earned his second win of the season pitching 1.2 scoreless innings.
*Justin Hagenman picked up his four save of the year pitching the final two innings and only giving up one hit.
*Each team hit three home runs in the game including back-to-back homer from both sides.

The series final between Tulsa and Springfield on Sunday, August 8 at 6:05 PM at Hammons Field.
The pitching matchup will feature Tulsa RHP Jose Martinez (0-1, 13.50 ERA) against Springfield's announced starter LHP Tyler Pike (4-3, 4.60 ERA). St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Miles Mikolas is expected to make an rehab appearance in the game.
