Corpus Christi Hooks News Release

Ninth-inning home runs by Edwin Rios and Matt Beaty sent Tulsa to a 10-9 victory over Corpus Christi in Sunday's series finale at ONEOK Field.

It marked the second time in the three-game series the Drillers (26-29) scored three ninth-inning runs for a walk-off win.

With the Hooks (28-28) ahead 9-7 in the final frame, Quincy Latimore drew a one-out walk from Sean Stutzman . Rios was next and belted a 2-1 pitch over the right-field wall to tie the game at 9. After a strikeout of Jacob Scavuzzo, Beaty hit a 1-2 offering into the right-field bullpen.

Corpus Christi harnessed the long ball to establish a 7-3 lead through 3 1/2. J.D. Davis cracked a two-run shot in the first off Isaac Anderson . It was Davis' Texas League leading 14th home run of the year, and his second blast in as many games.

Jason Martin 's first Double-A hit was a one-out solo clout down the right-field line in the third.

Jon Singleton opened the fourth with a home run to right field. Antonio Nunez added a sac fly and Martin capped the frame with a two-run double down the first-base line.

Tulsa struck for three two-out markers in the home half. Back-to-back RBI doubles by Tim Locastro and Latimore preceded a run-producing single off the bat of Rios.

Locastro, who hit a two-run homer in the second, plated three and scored three times Sunday.

Hooks starter Alex Winkelman lasted five innings, allowing six runs on seven hits and two walks.

In the sixth, Latimore squared the score at seven with a two-out RBI single of Ryan Thompson .

Thompson posted a zero in the seventh and retired both batters he faced in the eighth.

Corpus Christi reclaimed the lead in the eighth. Singleton drew a walk from Shea Spitzbarth . Garrett Stubbs then sent a single up the middle, prompting Karch Kowalcyk to enter the game. With two away, and the runners on the move, Trent Woodward lined a 3-2 pitch into centerfield, scoring Singleton from second base. Stubbs came home on a wild pitch for a fleeting 9-7 edge.

The Hooks return to Whataburger Field for a four-game series against Frisco. Tuesday's opener features lefty Kent Emanuel (1-3, 5.13) against RoughRiders right-hander Ariel Jurado (6-3, 3.71). First pitch 7:05. Click Here for the full rundown of homestand happenings.
