
Drillers Drop Fourth Straight

SPRINGDALE, AR - The Tulsa Drillers dropped their fourth straight game on Wednesday night, falling 12-4 to the Northwest Arkansas Naturals at Arvest Ballpark.Added to the roster on Tuesday, right-hander Kyle Hurt made his Double-A debut and pitched three innings to begin the game. The Drillers took an early lead in the first inning, but the Naturals quickly responded, scoring four in the bottom of the first, taking a lead they would not relinquish.
The game began positively for the Drillers as Jonny DeLuca hit a home run on the first pitch of the game to put the Drillers up 1-0.
Northwest Arkansas answered with it four runs in the bottom of the first. Tyler Gentry brought in the Naturals first run with a single. Two more Naturals scored on two wild pitches from Hurt. Seuly Matias brought the fourth run home with a sacrifice fly, giving Northwest Arkansas a 4-1 lead.
Tulsa brought the score to within one run in the third inning. Following a lead-off walk to Ryan January, DeLuca tripled to him home. One batter later, Ryan Ward reached first with a walk before Kody Hoese doubled home DeLuca to make the score 4-3.
The Naturals then scored seven unanswered runs over the next four innings to expand their lead. In the third, John Rave hit a two-run homer, as part of a four-run inning that increased the lead to 8-3.
Tucker Bradley singled in a run in the fifth inning before Rave and Matias added run-scoring hits in the sixth to give Northwest Arkansas an 11-3 lead.
The Drillers added one run in the eighth inning on Abiatal Avelino's RBI double.
The Naturals scored one final run in the bottom of the eighth on a bases-loaded walk that brought Tyler Gentry to the plate to make the score 12-4.
HIGHLIGHTS AND HAPPENINGS:
*DeLuca finished a double shy of the cycle, going 3-5 with two runs batted in.
*The Drillers gave up six stolen bases on Wednesday to bring the total to 118 for the season, the second-most in Double-A.
*Andy Pages was ejected following a strikeout in the sixth inning.

The Drillers and Naturals will continue their six-game series on Thursday night at Arvest Ballpark. Starting time for game three of the series is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and the pitching matchup is expected to be:
