Drillers Burn Out

December 19, 2004 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Calgary Drillers News Release

The torrid pace of four games in four days over three states caught up to the Calgary Drillers on Sunday afternoon in New Jersey. After beating the SkyCats on Saturday night for their first ABA victory the Drillers jumped into a 42-37 lead at the half on Sunday, then ran out of gas and lost 87-79. Their record on their opening road trip falls to 1-3.

Damian Owens continues to impress coach Otis Hailey. Calgary's 6'6" forward from West Virginia led the team with 23 points and 6 boards just 16 hours after scoring 15 on Saturday night. Reserve guard Jerry McNair from Washington State came off the bench to score 15 for the Drillers.

Calgary will now practice in New Jersey on Monday and fly to Portland on Tuesday. Wednesday night they face the Reign before heading back to Calgary for Christmas.

The Drillers play three more on the road during Christmas week before coming back to Calgary for an extended home stand.

Drillers tickets will go on sale in Calgary on Dec. 27th through Ticketmaster. The Drillers play 11 games at home during the month of January.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
