Tulsa Drillers News Release
The Tulsa Drillers and the Oklahoma City RedHawks have announced that they will meet in a pair of exhibition games during the first week of April. The two games will revive the former Turnpike Series that was first played exactly 100 seasons ago, in 1912, when the two cities were members of the old Oklahoma State Baseball League.
The first of the two games will be played in Tulsa at ONEOK Field on Sunday, April 3. First pitch is scheduled for 2:05PM in downtown Tulsa.
Game two will be played the following afternoon, Monday, April 4, at Oklahoma City's newly named RedHawks Field.
The Drillers are the Double A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, while the RedHawks are playing their first season as the Triple A affiliate of the Houston Astros.
Tickets for the game in Tulsa will go on sale on Saturday, March 19. All tickets will be General Admission and will be priced at $5.00 each.
The game in Oklahoma City will not be open to the public.
It will be the first time since 1997 that the two teams have met. The games will keep both squads in action between exhibition games with their parent clubs and their regular season openers.
The Drillers will host the Rockies at ONEOK Field on Wednesday, March 30 at 6:05PM, while the RedHawks will host the Astros on Tuesday, March 29.
Tulsa will begin the 2011 Texas League regular season on Thursday, April 7 by hosting Corpus Christi at 7:05PM.
