Dragons Sign Three

April 25, 2008 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
New York Dragons News Release

The New York Dragons signed veteran DB Monty Montgomery to the active roster on Wednesday. Montgomery spent the first half of the season with the Kansas City Brigade before being waived.

In five games this season with the Brigade, Montgomery recorded 32.0 total tackles, seven pass breakups and one forced fumble.

Montgomery is in his fifth AFL season. He spent 2004-05 with New Orleans and 2006-07 with Nashville before going to Kansas City in 2008. He also spent time in the AFL with the Indianapolis Colts, Philadelphia Eagles and New Orleans Saints at cornerback and safety. He played in 57 games in the NFL, recorded 142 tackles, 3.5 sacks, four interceptions, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and returned an interception for a touchdown.

"Things happen for a reason, and he was out there," said Head Coach Weylan Harding. "The couple times we played against him, he played a real physical game. His style fits in well with our game plan."

The Dragons also signed OL Alonzo Ephraim on Thursday, who played three games with the Dragons last season. Ephraim played in three games with the Dragons last season on the offensive line. New York signed another OL on Thursday, Delanio Taylor, a veteran who spent 2006 and 2007 with the Orlando Predators.

In other news, DB Angel Estrada and C/DL Joe Laudano were both placed on Injured Reserve on Wednesday. Estrada and Laudano each suffered knee injuries in Week 8 at Tampa Bay.

The Dragons are next in action on Saturday, April 26th vs. the Cleveland Gladiators in a key divisional match-up. Kickoff is set for 7pm and tickets are still available! Call 1-866-AFL-TIXX or send an email to ticketinfo@newyorkdragons.com to get your tickets today.
